Plastic Bag Prices Going Up Again
The Insider Party and Eco & Whatever in a full-on brawl over the guture of plastic bags in Smalltown
“Consumers in Smalltown are terrible at using reusable shopping bags,” says Marie Bastberg from Eco & Whatever (E&W) to Smalltown Magazine. “The EU’s target is a maximum of 40 plastic bags per person per year by the end of 2025, but here in our city we gorge ourselves with well over 200.”
“Plastic is great,” counters former Justice Commissioner Milla Mel from The Insider Party (TIP). “They use plastic on the hay bales at Trygle Slagsmål Bedum’s farm, and it’s working just fine. Screw the EU.”
“Typical Insider Party,” replies Marie Bastberg. “I’m not the least bit surprised. For them it’s all about farm stuff and text messages. Now we have to bring the last heavy plastic bag users into the fold so we can finally reach our goal. Unfortunately, that means using a tool we’ve put off for as long as possible - inflation.”
“Inflation?” gasps Milla Mel. “You’ve totally lost it.”
“Oh, not at all,” says Marie Bastberg. “Starting April 15th, a plastic bag will cost £4, as long as it’s not on sale. It’s that or an interest rate hike. Haven’t you heard anything Jens Ståttenberg has said?”
